St. Louis Chiropractor, Dr. Steven R. Lawless

I am originally from a small town in Illinois, near Springfield. After high school, I attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. There I received both Associate and Bachelor’s Degrees in Aviation Maintenance and Management. I worked for United Airlines in the maintenance department for the next 14 years.

Always interested in the health care industry, I relocated to the St. Louis area to attend Logan College of Chiropractic, graduating in 2000 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Biology and the Doctorate Degree in Chiropractic.

While attending Logan College, I worked at Blumenfeld Family Chiropractic as a Chiropractic Assistant. I began my own practice there, after graduation. Lawless Chiropractic Health Center opened in Wildwood, Missouri in 2002, taking me to the West County area. In November of 2011, I re-joined the team at Blumenfeld Family Chiropractic.

I love the outdoors and all sports and I’ve been a St. Louis Cardinal fan my whole life. In the past couple of years, I have gotten back into running and I ran my first ever 5K races. I’m also an animal lover, and I have a Bassett hound named Rusty. Rusty loves taking me for long walks through the woods.

Dr. J Asks some important questions of interest to St Louis residents - Chiropractor St Louis Dr. J Asks...

How come medical doctors don't recommend chiropractic?
That's changing. Years of prejudice and bias are giving way to research showing the benefits of chiropractic care. As more and more St Louis folks seek alternatives to drugs and surgery, more and more medical practitioners are referring their patients to chiropractors.
Are chiropractors just concerned with the spine?
Our interest in the spine is because it covers the major communications conduit between your brain and your body. As a St Louis chiropractor my job is to locate areas (usually along the spine) that interfere with proper nerve communications to and from your brain. Chiropractic adjustments help restore nervous system integrity. In this way, chiropractic care can affect the function of your entire body.
